I write this blog utmost regret and disappointment. Last Thursday (02-April), I left to my home town after two months. I booked the ticket in train. Normally I used to travel by bus as the bus station at Salem is very near to my home. This time I was suppose to carry a huge trolley bag with me to hand it to my brother. The train departs from Egmore exactly at 11:20 PM. My friend dropped me at Guindy, to catch a local train to reach the terminus. I carried a big bag along with trolley. I was completely exhausted now itself.
Some how managed to reach the counter. Good luck, Queue was not so long and stood behind the small pony tail.
Nearing the counter, I handed myself one 50 Rupees note to get a ticket for the local train. The counter admin didn’t reply anything; I uttered second time taking a glance at the clock behind him. Now also he was mum and shuttered his mouth. When I repeated for third time, he opened his mouth to say “Chi poo” (Get away). I was looking behind to notice the guy who makes him annoying. But no one was there, Later I came to know it was for me. I couldn’t yell him as the queue started to grow behind me. The degree of tension peaks inside me. I left the queue to give the way to other and stood mute and helpless. Not even the ticket fair was announced. I couldn’t ask him interpreting the queue as it proceeds very fast.
I was completely irritated by his behavior. Being in the Railway dept, government servant his attitude completely annoyed me. A Govt servant should be polite (not all the time) and guide the customer approaching him. How he is able to react such a way? Does he yell like this to others or only to me? What an outlander will think if he faces such a scene? What he’ll think about our country. Wrong thoughts may provoke because of this single guy. He failed to do this duty, at the same time hurts number of people who approaches him. Most of passengers who travel in the local train will be fully drained after their hectic schedule. Despite, everyone hardly spares 5 Mins with that dumbo, he tempts their hypertension. I was hurry to catch the train and so couldn’t get the issue forward to his higher authority. From a near by shop I took the change and backed again in the queue. On reaching the counter, he stared at me and issued the ticket after 5 mins. The amazing part is the ticket fair; it is only 5 bugs which I had already.
Heck, how come India can become a developed country with such a stupefied administration.
